BULP presents - League Points. Every team will have a variety of opportunities to earn points, and the goal is simple - earn the most points over the season to become league champion. There are two types of league points:
Team points carry the highest value and will account for the majority of points earned throughout the season.
These points are awarded when a club places highly or wins at a university championship.
Each university event will fall into its own category, and the value of the points awarded will depend on the
level or size of the event. These categories are:
Highest value points, awarded for universities placing top 5 overall.
Wider divisional defines university events covering (2) or more English divisions. For example, Southern University Championships, Northern University Championships, Midlands University Championships etc. Welsh, Irish (to include Northern Ireland, otherwise solely NI), and Scottish University Championships are defined as wider divisional category. Points awarded for teams placing top 3 overall.
Local divisional defines university events covering a single English division. For example, South Midlands University Championships, South West Championships, North Midlands University Championships. Points awarded for teams placing top 3 overall.
3-Way varsity defines varsity events including (3) clubs. For example, Bath-Cardiff-Exeter Clash. Points awarded for teams placing top 2 overall.
2-Way varsity defines varsity events including (2) clubs. For example, Southampton vs Portsmouth varsity, Liverpool varsity etc. Points awarded for the winning team.

Each university athlete will have the opportunity to earn points for their team throughout the season by placing well overall (men or women) at individual (or team) events. Best lifter is determined by GL (Goodlift) points. Individual points consist of 3 categories:
Highest value points, awarded to a club for the athlete placing top (3) overall (men or women). For example, John Snow from University of South placing (2) best lifter at the IPF World OR European Classic Bench Press Championships.
National defines English, Welsh, Northern Irish, Scottish national championships, Home Nations, and BUCS. These include full power, bench press only, equipped or classic. The event needs to have at least (3) competitors in that specific discipline. For example, John Snow from University of South placing (1) best lifter at the British Open Classic Championships. Points awarded ONLY for best male OR female lifter.
Divisional defines local level events organised by a single division, brand, or individual, with divisional level referees and without a Jury. These include full power, bench press only, equipped or classic. The event needs to have at least (3) competitors in that specific discipline. For example, John Snow from University of South placing (1) best lifter at the South Midlands Bitesize Championships. Points awarded ONLY for best male OR female lifter.

Individual points can be earned alongside team points, even at the same event. For example, if the University of South places 2nd at BUCS, they earn 8 points.
If John Snow from the University of South also wins Best Lifter at the same event, the team earns an additional 2 points.
Points can be earned from events taking place during the season, which runs from 1st September to 31st April.
Each team is responsible for submitting points, or for nominating someone to do so on their behalf. Where possible, BULP will liaise with event directors to collect
results once an event has concluded. However, we strongly encourage each team to regularly check the leaderboard and submit a concern form if you believe something has been missed.
Results must be submitted through the club portal. You'll need to create an account, which must be approved by an admin after registration. For the fastest approval,
please use your university club email address.
