The British University League of Powerlifting (BULP) is the first national effort to bring together, celebrate, and rank university powerlifting teams
in the UK. It was founded to promote year-round engagement and competition. BULP features a structured league format where universities earn points based
on team and individual performances at sanctioned events. Only events run by British Powerlifting (IPF) qualify for points. Our goal is to highlight the amazing
talent coming from university clubs. We also want to create a sense of rivalry, pride, and growth within the student powerlifting community.
Until now, university-level powerlifting has not had a unified leaderboard. BULP changes that. By awarding points at events like BUCS, regional university
championships, local varsity matches, and international competitions, we capture the full range of a club's efforts during the academic season. Whether it's
securing a podium finish at Southern Universities or achieving a standout lifter performance at an international meet, every effort counts and contributes to the overall league table.
Beyond rankings, BULP focuses on community and visibility. We cover events, share athlete accomplishments, and promote university clubs through our media channels.
Through athlete interviews, competition highlights, and ranking updates, we showcase student lifters and their teams. Our aim is not only to build prestige through points
but also to encourage pride in university representation nationwide.
As the sport continues to grow at the university level, BULP offers a platform that acknowledges both team strategy and individual skill. The league season runs from
September to April, and teams are encouraged to actively submit results through their club portal. With each season, we strive to raise awareness of university powerlifting,
develop the next generation of British lifters, and crown a deserving league champion.
